Darryn Lyons began his career at seventeen as a Geelong newspaper photographer and was, consequently, the first local photographer to win the title of ‘Best Cadet’ in the National Press Awards. He then went on to work at London’s Daily Mail, was a war photographer in Sarajevo, covered revolutions in both Romania and Czechoslovakia and the historic fall of the Berlin Wall.
Darryn co-produced a series titled Paparazzi with BBC Worldwide which went on to be a finalist in the UK BAFTA awards. He achieved global sales with his autobiography Mr. Paparazzi. In 2013, Darryn was elected Mayor of the City of Greater Geelong, bringing his trade-mark energy and entrepreneurial vision to the popularly elected role.
