Bernadette McCartney

Bernadette is currently employed as the Executive Manager of Access, Support and Family Safety at Bethany Community Support, a multi sector organisation that provides specialist family violence, homelessness, integrated family services and therapeutic support services across the Barwon and Great South Coast areas in Victoria. Bethany is well recognised for the pioneering work that it has undertaken in high risk family violence and in its willingness to trial innovative ways of working with men who use violence.

Prior to working at Bethany, Bernadette has worked for thirty years as a social worker and then in leadership roles across the homelessness, community mental health, children and family and complex needs sectors. Bernadette has a particular interest in the development of cross sector, partnerships models that specifically address violence against women and children.
